First, you have the “in-crowd”. by this I mean the people who listen to music, just because its what everyone else listen to. They listen to it because it is cool to listen to, or because it has modern under tones that people take as being real. As I see it, those people are just being ignorant. I think this because of the fact most of the music all has false messages such as being “hood” or “a thug” is cool or all life is about is being high and living a life of crime and magical things like that. Yet, most of the “singers” have never really been in the hood or lived in any really bad parts of he city or have even experienced any of the things they talk about. I say that they talk about it because there is most of the time no real musical ability about it. All it is, is some fake person talking in rhythm, in poor rhythm at best, acting tuff, when push came to shove, they would just run away.
Second, you have the people who are all about music, the people who enjoy music for the lack of better terms, the music side of it. The people who write their own stuff, or who get out there and play it like they want to play it. Now I am not just talking about the “band geeks”, but many of time, these are the only people who actually get the music side of is and who respect and understand it. Those are the people who I think really get music.
Third, you have the folks like me who just happen to listen to music that describes me and the life I want I to live, and further more, do live. As I’m sure, you, and most ever other person who meets me, can guess that I listen to country. And contrary to popular consent, country music, on a whole, is not all about singing about making love to a horse or about how sexy she thinks my tractor is. Most of the country that I listen to is about modern times and about real stuff, like how I think the country is going, and how hard it really is to make a living out there. Then you have the country music that is about heartbreak. Ironically, those songs seem to mean a lot to me, because they are about real things, and how an every day person can relate to, like me.
So, I think that you should listen to music that you can relate to. Now I’m not saying that you should listen to country, but at least give it a chance, or maybe look back on what you are listening to see if can really understand and interrupt it. See it you can really see such things happening, and if you can, then maybe you have realized what life is about.
But that’s just me
